Friends of CAIC: Friends of CAIC was formed in 2005 to promote avalanche safety in Colorado and support the recreation program of CAIC. The Friends of CAIC has, since then, established a strong voice in Colorado as the fundraising entity for CAIC, hosting fundraising events throughout the state every winter season. Friends of CAIC also manages the state’s FREE avalanche awareness program, Know Before You Go, that is presented to elementary school students to adults.
CAIC: The Colorado Avalanche Information Center (CAIC) is the United State’s most robust avalanche center, distributing prompt, accurate information to locals and visitors alike. The CAIC’s primary goal is to reduce the impacts of avalanches and avalanche accidents on the people of Colorado through forecasting and education. CAIC operates in 10 different zones throughout Colorado and provides daily zone-specific forecasts on their website or in your email inbox - for free.
