When we say we love our customers, we really mean it. That said, one of our favorites is Budge's Wilderness Lodge. Tucked away in the Flat Top Wilderness, Budge's offers an amazing experience for guests who want to spend time in the woods, far away from civilization, to hunt, fish or explore the backcountry on horseback.
Ever since we onboarded Budge's (they serve Bivouac Coffee every morning to guests), we couldn't wait to visit ourselves. A couple weeks ago I had the chance to visit, hang out with the staff and stay the night.
The lodge is way out there - it's about 2,5 hours of driving once you leave I-70. The last 9 miles are rough, rocky and slow-going. You need a capable high-clearance 4x4 to make the trek. Once you make it to the lodge, you are probably ready to chill out in one of the rustic cabins. Built in the 1920's, the cabins are simple and cozy.
One thing that stood out to me is the amazing staff. All (home cooked) meals are included with your stay, and there isn't anything then cracking a beer at the end of a long day outside, hanging out at the fireplace and swapping stories with other guests and the guides. Everybody is very welcoming and overall stoked to be there.
As I'm not much of a fisherman or hunter, I explored the local trails on foot with my dog. Trails start right at the property.
Many thanks to Rikki and Ryan for letting me stay - we are thankful to have you guys as customers. We will be back...
